Mar 14, 1998: Sara goes to America (Seattle)
to study English by herself.
May 2, 1998: Sara returns from
America.
May 17, 1998: Sara gets a new computer.
May 19, 1998: Chris meets Sara in an online
dating service then called "Avenia" (www.lavalife.com).
May 26, 1998: Chris turns 33.
June 15, 1998: Chris gets new job at Mail.com.
Aug 13, 1998: Sara turns 28.
Nov 25, 1998: Chris flies to Taiwan for
4 days to meet Sara in person for the first time. Very romantic!
Chris meets Sara's friends Wendy and Jenny for the first time.
Dec 19, 1998: Sara's Dad suffers severe
stroke, needs life-saving surgery. Partially recovers over time,
but has since been mostly confined to his home in Feng Yuan, Taiwan.
Jan 31, 1999: Sara flies to New York
to spend 3 weeks with Chris.
Feb 7, 1999: Horse-drawn
buggy around Central Park, Sara sees snow fall for the first time.
Sara meets Chris's Grandfather Sirmons for the first time.
Feb 13, 1999: Sara and Chris visit
Times Square, the Museum of Natural History, and see the Broadway play
Cats.
Feb 14, 1999: Chris and Sara's first
Valentine's Day together!
Feb 15, 1999: Sara hurts her foot
in New York City.
Feb 16, 1999: Sara's foot in a cast
for remainder of visit.
Feb 20, 1999: Sara flies home.
May 26, 1999: Chris turns 34.
Jul 24, 1999: Sara flies to
New York to spend another 3 weeks with Chris. Time to meet his
family and friends!
Jul 26, 1999: Chris and Sara
visit Sara's friend Yufan (Bride's Maid to-be) who lives in Baltimore,
and tour Washington D.C.
Jul 28, 1999: Chris and Sara
visit Orlando, Sara meets Chris's Mom for the first time.
Jul 30, 1999: Chris and Sara
visit St. Petersburg / Tampa, Sara meets Chris's friends Krissy and
Joe for the first time.
Aug 7, 1999: Chris and Sara
visit Dallas / Ft. Worth, Sara meets Chris's Dad and his friends Mick
and Connie for the first time.
Aug 7, 1999: Chris and Sara's
day at the Bronx Zoo.
Aug 8, 1999: Chris's Dad and
his wife Brenda visit Chris and Sara at New York apartment.
Aug 13, 1999: Sara turns 29.
Aug 14, 1999: Sara flies home again.
Aug 18, 1999: Chris has Lasik Eye Surgery.
Jan 28, 2000: Sara flies to New York
for another 3 weeks. They decide they will get married!
Begin INS paperwork.
Jan 30, 2000: Chris and Sara fly
to Florida for the weekend and visit Rabbi John Fischer for the first
time, for marriage counseling.
Feb 1, 2000: Chris has
corrective Foot Surgery, Sara nurses him for remainder of visit.
May 20, 2000: Chris flies to Taiwan (2nd
visit) for 1 week and meets Sara's Dad, Grandma, younger sister Meng
Chin (Maid of Honor to-be), older sister Sophie, brother Leng Chin,
and her many uncles, aunts and cousins, and more friends.
May 23, 2000: Chris and Sara have studio
wedding photos taken.
May 24, 2000: Chris and Sara purchase wedding
rings from Sara's older sister Sophie, who with her husband own a jewelry
store.
May 25, 2000: CHRIS OFFICIALLY PROPOSES
MARRIAGE TO SARA ON THE BEACH IN NORTH TAIWAN, SARA SAYS "YES!"
May 26, 2000: Chris turns 35.
Aug 13, 2000: Sara turns 30.
Sep 3, 2000: Chris flies
to Taiwan to bring Sara home with him forever.
Sep 9, 2000: CHRIS AND
SARA'S CHINESE WEDDING PARTY, OVER 100 FAMILY AND FRIENDS ATTEND.
(By Chinese tradition, they are now married, but not according to U.S.
immigration law and tradition.)
Sep 10, 2000: Sara has herself baptized
at local church.
Sep 11, 2000: Chris and Sara fly
home to America to spend their lives together.
Sep 30, 2000: Chris and Sara fly
to Florida for weekend to have a follow-up marriage meeting with Rabbi
Fischer.
Oct 2, 2000: Chris and
Sara buy Marriage License from Pinellas County Courthouse in St. Petersburg,
Florida. Chris's Mom buys Sara Wedding Gown.
Nov 23, 2000: Sara's first Thanksgiving!
Nov 24, 2000: WEDDING REHEARSAL!
Nov 25, 2000: CHRIS AND SARA GET MARRIED!
