This web site began as a single page that I created for Sara when I first met her on the internet. Originally it looked similar to the home page of our love story as it is now - with the black background and orange flowers (orange is her favorite color), and some of the photographs she had emailed me. When she saw the web page I made for her, I believe that is when I first won her heart. So as our story continued, I began to update the page until it became the love story you will read here. It is divided into 6 chapters, and each chapter has a table of contents at the beginning where you can jump to the page you want. However, I encourage you not to jump ahead - but to read it in sequence. Our love unfolded over the course of a two year period from opposite sides of the planet, and it is an interesting and wonderful journey! A little about us before we met: My name is Christopher Sirmons Haviland, I was born in the heartland of the United States, in Lawrence, Kansas, on May, 1965 (the Snake Year). I don't speak any language except English, and I've seen almost the entire United States by the time I reached my teens due to the travels of my own family. I've lived in Kansas, Connecticut, Colorado, Wyoming (where I graduated from High School), Texas (where I got my BA in Radio/TV/Film), Florida (where I co-founded a movie company at Universal Studios Florida), and New York (where my Haviland ancestors are from), which is where I lived when we met. You can find out more about me here. Tzu-Ching "Sara" Wu was born in Feng Yuan, Taichung County, Taiwan in the Chinese Dog Year, August, 1970. She speaks 3 languages: Minnan (Fujian Taiwanese), Mandarin (common Chinese), and English, and is learning a little Japanese. In 1998 she was a teacher of English to Taiwanese children in her home town, having worked at such schools as Hess and Disney Language School. Sara has a sweet, adoring personality. She loves kids and kids love her. She comes from a more traditional culture and has the same vision for family that I do. She has a great respect for people and is very responsible to them. Her loyalty towards a partnership and enthusiasm for a healthy, optimistic future engenders hope, courage and happiness in my life. You can find out more about her here. This is our story. |
